Holmes Chapel Work in the Community –
Social Action

 
• As part of the mission of Holmes Chapel Methodist Church, a strong link is
  maintained with Barnabus.

• Barnabus is a Christian Homeless Charity bringing hope and suppor to
  people experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping in Manchester for
  nearly 30 years.

• Outreach teams meet rough sleepers on the street.

• The Beacon Support Centre, complete with case workers and nurses, run
  their own Resettlement Tenancy Scheme.

• Barnabus focus on one-to-one support enabling and empowering people
  back into independent living and a home; aiding them with recovery from
  addictions and/or trauma.

• They also provide practical, spiritual and mental health support and offer
  connections to training and employment opportunities.

Fairtrade

 
• Holmes Chapel is a Fairtrade church – which means that whenever
  refreshments are served, they are from Fairtrade sources

• Regular Fairtrade events are held in the church  –  to spread interest and
  awareness, and motivate the congregation to buy Fairtrade produce in their
  regular shopping

• We have a monthly sale of Fairtrade items after worship
