My story continued....

I was deeply privileged to be a Rev. Tim Simmspart of the very first ‘Share Jesus’ mission which was organised by the late Rob Frost – an event in which I took part for five years first of all as a team member and in my final two years as a team leader. During this time, I also co-ran youth work within my home church with my first wife, and as part of a team in the wider Circuit. My hobbies include cycling and motorcycling and photography and more recently flying my drone, walking, and watching films. Pauline and I both ride motorcycles and it was through this shared passion that we met at an IAM meeting. I also enjoy a bit of gentle gardening (my days as a landscape gardener are long gone) and DIY. Previous employment has been varied. I worked as a landscape gardener for a time, in forestry, retail and retail management and in the eleven years prior to offering for the ministry I worked in a high school where I managed very large computer system.

I met Pauline through a motorcycle club (not the outcome either of us expected from riding a motorbike). We got married in July 2011 and between us we have four grown up children and two grandchildren. Before we had even thought about marriage we had talked about what the future might hold for each of us and I shared that I felt a call to ministry. It was after we were married that we agreed that it was time that I tested the calling.

Throughout my life I can see times in which God has been very evident and I have been aware of God’s leading and calling in my life. Pauline too can share the same experience of God’s hand gently leading and protecting her. We do not deny that our journey has, at some points, been less than smooth. We cannot say that we have always been faithful to God or found it easy to follow his son Jesus, but we do know that it is through God’s grace, shown to us in Jesus Christ that we have been able to continue our journey with Him.

In the short time that I have served as a minister I have learnt a lot, but still have a lot to learn. I am passionate about telling of Jesus’ love and saving grace, and seeing the Church of Christ living out it’s calling through mission and service.

My prayer is that through the working of the Holy Spirit we might all grow in faith and holiness, not for our own gratification but that we might be salt and light in the world, empowered by God’s Spirit to share the love of Jesus with all whom we meet. I look forward to journeying with you over the next few years.

God bless – Tim Simms
